Treats For Troops

Over the past several years Sherwood families have taken the initiative to collect comfort items for our soldiers, sailors, air crews, and Marines serving to defend us overseas. These treats are sent to former campers and Sherwood family members currently serving in harm’s way.

Each camper and Sherwood family is asked to consider making a donation of some of the below listed items. The donation serves as a practical demonstration to our children of our patriotism and as an act of generosity and kindness to those currently bearing significant hardships. Items to consider include:

Power bars

Cup ‘O Soups

Slim Jims

Candy

Granola Bars

Gatorade powder

Playing cards

Gum

Dried beef jerky

Magazines

Q-Tips

AA Batteries

  • Silly String (Used to detect IED trip wires)
  • Antacid medications (Tums)
  • Odor absorbing gels (For latrines simmering at 120 degrees)
  • Replacement flashlight bulbs for “Mag” flashlights
  • Stuffed animals (Medic handouts to injured Iraqi children)
  • Soccer Balls (Traded to kids for information on the location of IEDs)
  • Hard candy (Skittles, Jolly Ranchers, gum, etc.)
  • Pringles (Chips in tubes to survive shipping)
  • Ziplock bags (keeps sand out and organizes things in your rucksack)
  • Baby wipes (used when water is not available for bathing)

Any and all contributions are most welcome. Please drop off donations in the blue Treats for Troops barrel at the Camp Office.

Sincerely and most gratefully,
Billy Moulden
